Web Design in 2 Minutes

This is a rather old video. But I just found it and I watched it, kinda flabbergasted.

Is this how it looks to the uninitiated? Is web design ever such a flowing and harmonious procedure? Will it ever be like that?

Can we really produce websites just like that?

I know I can’t.

This video made me sad in so many ways, and it’s not the Amélie music either.

    What?! it takes you more than two minutes to make a website from visuals to browser? girl you’re so slow! I nowadays do it under 1.30′

    On a more serious note though web design IS really that harmonious. Once you hit your zone that is, where everything comes effortlessly because it just makes sense.

    @acidsmile

    Be frank, do you often find your zone these days? I seem to have lost it :(

    It’s a promotional video engineered to make you feel that way: streamlined and edited and smooth around the edges. I dare them to show some real-life IE6 testing :-P

    Creating beautiful things is always a messy (I’m drafting proposals & estimates today. Hmmmm, seems they forgot to put that in the video too…) but engaging process, be it websites or anything else for that matter.

    That’s what clients see and then they consider us slow!!! One of my clients once, told me that developing a site is as easy as installing a program… Next -> Next -> and we’ve got a new site up and running!!!
