Live, From Flock
So, after my recent problems with Firefox (which occurred right after I installed Titan Quest, I wonder if there is any connection), I decided to give Flock a go.
So far, here are my positive points:
- Very nice default theme, I couldn’t help but love the polished icons and clean look of the UI.
- Tons of little features you’ll learn to use and someday, you’ll wonder how you could do without them.
- Embedded RSS reader. And blogging. And photo sharing. Bliss!
- Very compliant with most Firefox extensions, that’s a huge plus.
…and the ugly ones:
- It lacks the total control over bookmarks that Firefox has. Dragging and dropping photos in a HTML form is good, but how difficult dragging and dropping bookmarks in a folder could be?
- A bit unstable. I know it’s in beta, but still.
- Really slow with my humongous list of bookmarks.
Yet again, it’s just the first impression I got from using the application for a bit. My first move was to import my Firefox bookmarks and simulate an everyday thing for me, going through all the RSS. I can’t say there weren’t any problems, but in general Flock looks promising.
So, this was Sugar blogging live from Flock. Give this thingie a try, you may even discover the browser of your dreams. And it will be, someday, trust me.

I think the first version of Flock will solve most of the above problems. The bookmarking system it’s a bit bizzre, but if you spent some time you’ll see that it’s no so hard. It’s just a totaly new idea about bookmarks. About the Firefox extensions I have to say that some of the advertising working extensions don’t work (at least on my Flock)…Anyway, let’s wait for the first version…

Hey Zaharenia,
Welcome to the Flock. We’re going to be adding folders support back for favorites in the next major release. Sorry we can’t fix everything right away, but we’re working on the other issues you have too!
Cheers,

I myself had a little fling with Flock. I think it has great potential but I felt their preview release was a little early which took some of the wind out of its sail.
That being said, if I couldn’t use Firefox, I most likely would be using Flock.

I agree with P.J. : that thing has potential. All it takes is some more stability and a little of attention to usability and speed issues. Also, some resemblances to Firefox should be eliminated, in my opinion : Flock must differentiate from other browsers, methinks.
All in all, it’s an application with great potential.
