WTF
Erm, excuse my ranting, but what in God’s name happened to YouTube interface for embedded videos? I’ll embed one of my favs just for the sake of example.
Am I the only one seeing this horrendous stuff? Is it 1999 all over again? Am I missing something?
Moreover, goodbye e-donkey. You’ll be missed. Damn you, companies! *shakes fist*

You are absolutely right Sugar! I have seen the change 2 days ago in my video posts and I cannot understand why Youtube makes this step backwards…No volume control? Only mute/unmute? Omg this sux!

Come on guys, its not so bad… Ok the red bar might look a bit ugly, but not so tragic…

That has to be the ugliest interface I have ever seen for video playback. I really think you need to actual put serious effort into making it look that bad.

It seems better now
They probably wanted to test something, now the interface has better volume controls and it’s smaller!
Nice

Yes, I realised it too this morning.
Everything looks more subtle now, but still…the embossed gradients make my stomach rumble.

Youtube has never, let me repeat this, never had an enviable UI design in any of its software. Not on their site, not on their flash video player. Besides, its player’s functionality is quite limited too — cf. Google’s ability to jump to position and stream from there.
Still I found this player much improved, despite the ‘oooh-look-I-can-do-gradients’ early 90s factor. At least the slider works now.

@ cosmix: Pffft. Functionality. Who cares about it, it’s the design that counts!
Really now, I found the layout change too dramatic to even try moving the slider. Really. I was like “eeek. I’m not touching this round thing”.
Maybe I exaggerate. But still.
