The Internet doesn’t care about you

Warning: ranting ahead.

Face it people: noone gives a damn for you on the ‘nets.

So don’t go around threatening “you’ll leave”. Don’t be a drama queen and announce your nth Internet exit, hoping for “please don’t go” comments. Because guess what: after some days, noone will remember you.

That’s the sacred and damned way of the Internet: you can’t control it. You can’t keep something alive if you don’t update it, reminding to people that hey, you exist.

Services like Facebook, Twitter, blogs, they’re just that: reminders of your online presence to people. So don’t expect someone will care if you stop updating all of a sudden. Because we’ll just go on.

Threatening, suing, being rude, complaining, ranting, it’s all useless. The show will just go on.

Face it, or do us all a favour and stop messing the web with your obnoxious self.

You are absolutely right. Although sometimes, we can’t just move on. Sometimes we miss someone not on the net anymore. Someone irreplaceable, like “Pepas” for example..
