Order schmorder
You know these little Windows annoyances that make your blood boil, right? Like the irritating restart prompt, already mentioned in this blog. Like some versions of well-known programs that cause all default Arial text in your computer go italic. Like… well, you get the idea.
One of those things hit me lately (again). For unknown reasons, every single dialog box that presented file lists (for example “Open File…” dialogs) was listed by default in reverse alphabetical order. I don’t know about you, but I was seriously put off by this silliness, I can’t stand working and having to reverse and reverse the order to get the file listings as I want them, for the love of God.

I have no idea how this peculiar little “bug” was caused. I guess it has something to do with my current StyleXP theme? Maybe. The thing is, how to stop it from happening, in an easy and painless way?
Easily. Just open up any file dialog box, in your application of choice, set view to “Details”, click twice on “Name” tab to order the files alphabetically, and hold CTRL and click on the upper-right corner “X” to close the window and save the setting.
Voila! No more weird orderings.
