Newsvine drops ‘tech’ for ‘technology’, pisses me off

Daily ranting #454:

I use to access news sharing site Newsvine a lot, searching for Pathfinder Tech worthy Mac related articles.

I used to have its Tech section URL stored conveniently in my browser’s history, being at http://newsvine.com/tech.

These days, something didn’t click. Today I realized what: this URL wouldn’t get me to the Tech section anymore. I had to click again on the menu to find the correct technology section.

What’s this? Did I found a blind spot of the Internet?

They dropped the ‘tech’ alias for ‘technology’, so now I have to visit http://newsvine.com/technology.

It’s Technology, but according to the menu it’s Tech!

Why now? Who knows.

Cause “technology” wins over “tech” when it comes to semantics lil Sue.

The longer our Web presence is, the more mature you become, the closer to Semantics you wanna be.

ps: Raki made me post this, blame me tomorrow :)

@ George: I forgot to state that yes, this decision makes sense semantically, but they really should think about it when starting, not now, with such an established user base.

Got something to say?

Please say it in English, the one and only language of this blog. If your comment is in greek or swedish or esperanto, I claim the right to edit it and translate it to english. Thank you.
