I read them once thoroughly, without a PC near me (usually in bed, before I sleep). This helps me "index" its contents in my brain and learn some stuff too. After that, I put them on the shelf, next to my office and use them as references when I need something that I remember reading in a particular book.

@Gerasimos

I'll totally agree with you. To learn new stuff, online content just won't cut it. It will provide me with cues and triggers, but not actually make me learn.

I say I have about 30-35 design books. I don't trade, I lend to people according to their needs. I'll keep them as long as they don't become obsolete (and some of them won't easily become so).

Yellow highliter on my left hand and off we go. My way of learning new technologies will always be book based. Online resources will follow for updates and different approaches about things.

How many books do you have (related ones)? Do you keep them? Trade them? Archive them?
