So… hot…

No, I’m not referring to my hotness, that’s a well known fact.

I’m referring to the absurd heat wave that continues to torment Greece for over a week now - we’re talking 40 Celsius degrees (over 100 Fahrenheit degrees for our weird friends) daily (and nightly).

Our house, not having proper air conditioning (just fans), showered by the sun every day (we’re on first floor) does not cool at all during the night. Everything’s hot in it, beds, furnitures and walls. You cannot live without a fan tied on you and even the bottled water you drink gets hot in a few minutes.

As if the heat was not enough, there are numerous power shortages (that, my friends, means no a/c, and no a/c at work = bad) as well as lack of water (means not as many showers as you’d like - hell, no showers at all).

Now beat that!

Even I, a huge fan of summer and heat, am exhausted and pray for lower temperatures. This is too much.

    beat that you say girl?

this is the result of monday’s “rain” where I live

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/humber/content/image_galleries/floods_250607_gallery.shtml

the water was up to my knees when trying to get home on monday lunchtime and life has just barely returned to normal today.

as for fans, I’ve turned the heating back on since then.

dunno what’s worse really, the extreme heat or needing a boat to navigate around town…

    acid.

Hang on the temp is supposed to start dropping very soon.
There are solutions though. I spent every eve of my university exam days in a bathtub filled with cool(ish) water and my laptop. You need to be careful but it works.
Though I’m not sure how this could work given that you don’t live alone.

@acidsmile: The tide has turned here, there’s a bit of wind (at last) and EMY says that next week there’re gonna be rains out and about. How about that :P

@KCorax: Water? Laptop? Eeeeeek… I’ll just stick to my fan, thank you :P
