Italy in a nutshell, by me

Here’s what my trip taught me:

  • Rome is a dirty, noisy, magical city.
  • Italian drivers are the worst thing ever happened to driving. And I thought Greeks were bad.
  • San Pietro basilica was awe-inspiring.
  • Italian food is overrated (and overpriced).
  • Fontana di Trevi is coooooooool.
  • Why don’t people speak english? Really. I know some italian, could find my way around, but I wouldn’t expect any tourist visiting Greece to speak greek!
  • Italian people are hot, in the steamy dark Mediterranean way.

All in all, despite the ranting (you know me, guys), I had a fun time. Flickr photos coming, and that’s a whole slew of them.

Now back to work!

They don’t speak English? heh nice.. try North Spain like the Basque Country, they get offended if you dare to speak English.

Ranting is good, it relieves you from otherwise built-up frustration. I do it al the time ;-)
I too am perplexed at the unwillingness or inability of Italians, even young ones, to speak or understand English, BUT…
…having driven in every European country and capital (and a few beyond that, try Jakarta), I’m afraid to say that your initial thought about Greek drivers (or at least Cretan ones) was the correct one. I respectfully disagree with your assessment of Italian drivers. I.m.n.s.h.o. they behave like choir boys compared to what I see my fellow citizens pull off every day driving around Iraklio…

@luc At least in Greece I never got almost run over a car over 3 times, eventhough I was on a pedestrians crossing and cars had a red light.

Got something to say?

Please say it in English, the one and only language of this blog. If your comment is in greek or swedish or esperanto, I claim the right to edit it and translate it to english. Thank you.
